Here is a small video demonstrating a few techniques that were discussed the past days. The is the MS20 kick drum patch with the extra thump tip by keurslagerkurt. The kick drum is sidechained by sending all the other drum sounds and the synth voice through a a part of the mixer which is fed into the b part through a VCA which receives the inverted envelope of the kick drum, this makes the kick cut better through, should have routed it through a singal amp for extra loudness but this is just a simple demo patch.
The other technique I want to point out is the sequencer; despite only using 8 step the melody does not sound like the same 8 notes repeating over and over. This is done by making the clock triggering the sequencer, but the gate out is sent through track 4 of my AEclidian module, this will make sure that not every step of the sequencer results in a triggered note, since it is the rhythm of the AEclidian track that triggers the envelope of the synth voice while staying in sync with the overall tempo set by the clock. In order to make sure that the cv signal that sets the pitch of the synth voice is independent of the speed of the sequencer I routed the quantized cv into a S&H channel which gets triggered by the AEclidian the same moment the note ENVelope is triggered. This means that I can have a note sustain longer than the duration of one step on the sequencer.

All jokes aside, IMHO if you only do one style then you will eventually limit your own skillset. With modular like with any other instrument, playing different styles will extend your palette I guess.

Definitely. And listen! Listen to all of it, try out all classics from all genres. Live is short, but long enough to hear a ton of music 😊

Cool patch, I like that S&h technique. It's nothing spectacular but I guess that it's good to mention what an S&H can be used for especially for beginners who just received their first starterrack and who wonder what that 2S&H module is good for.

Absolutely, as well as a reminder to those like me who don't use the S&H much. Your sequencer threads have also reminded me to do more with sequencing along with funbun's Major Blues release so I'm experimenting with something at the moment which I'll post if it works.

Here is that sequencer patch I mentioned. The patching isn't too clear due to all the cables as I'm in the middle of a patch that I didn't want to unpatch. Could be business as usual for many but a big step for my way of thinking. RBSS to Moco CV in Moco A to Seq8 clock in to Quantiser 1 to Wavetables CV1 Moco B to Seq16 clock in to Quantiser 2 to wavetables CV2 The RBSS randomises the Moco Mixer CV outs a and b which gives the Wavetables a 24 step sequencer. you could add 2 more sequencers to this using the Moco. The new Euclid module would prob do more and also duddex has just done a Grains/envelope switch code that would do it too I guess.
