Hot on the Heels of my mention in this month's AE blog, (which I wasn't expecting, and am very grateful) my 4th Music video is ready for public consumption;

As I mentioned on the youtube loved this and how well the fire went with the music too, can hear your style in there. Think you use a mod slide expression wheel? in parts.
Which synths are you using?

Thank you, doing this from memory so not 100% correct possibly. The Novation Ultranova, Korg MS2000 and Emu Virtuoso. All sequenced from my MPC. I think the Emu did 2 sounds but one may have been from the MPC. There's only 4 sounds in this one! I did try to add percussion but was too distracting so I took it off again. I use mod wheel/bend quite a lot, but try not to use it in the common, "held lead line note wobble way" so more than likely is some on there! I think there was some portamento on the Ultranova sound. Some of it maybe the FX used on the occasional chord sound, I tend to mess with FX after the main recording, so I use play rather than over analyse. FX can take it somewhere I might not of thought of - especially delays. Reverb and delays can change the mood/feel of a piece of music too... I sometimes have written more &/or changed the music to suit an FX but that didn't happen here, all (fairly) subtle... Anyway, thanks for the listen and comment,

cheers for the rundown, should have known the MPC was in there! So with the MPC after the main recording and while replaying can you add different fx on the fly to different parts?

cheers for the rundown, should have known the MPC was in there! So with the MPC after the main recording and while replaying can you add different fx on the fly to different parts? Yes, the recording is Midi so I can just mess with my FX units whilst it is playing back, either direct, (via patch bays), or via the mixer FX sends. The mixer has built in FXs too, which often provide the reverb these days. Once I'm happy I mix it all down to stereo, as much as possible is programmed/automated, (e.g. 99% of the mixing is done by the volume levels in the midi sequence), but do tweak FX levels etc during mixdown quite often. I have done more than one mix before, but that's unusual... I do have a digital multitrack which has built in FX I can put on after audio recording but nowhere near as versatile as the studio; the main reason it stays is for recording vocals and "real", (i.e. non-midi!) instruments. The stereo mixdown can be to that recorder, but I often use my Zoom H2N these days as so quick and easy.
