Hi. I know the 2vca gives direct knobs for volume. But I have filled out my starter with additional osc and filter modules and I am looking to multitrack with the 4i/o so I am thinking I need the 4vca. But, without the knobs will I have problems? I am new to modular but I am thinking I can take a wave out from one of the osc modules to send cv to the 4vca to open it. That's how modular and in this case AE modular would work, correct?
Basically, looking to know if there are any issues with swapping out the 2vca with a 4vca modules, so that I can handle more direct audio channels.

Personally I don't use the attenuators on the 2VCA much. The 4VCA offers great value on a small footprint.
However usually you open a VCA using an envelope or an LFO rather than an OSC.

A 4VCA + a 4ATT/MIX is definitely more versatile than 2x2VCA

The 4VCA is basically also a voltage controlled mixer, right? It's the voltage controlled sibling of the 4ATTMIX.

I still like the attenuators on my 2VCA modules when I run out of 'A' channels on my mixer module. I have more voices than controllable mixer channels on my system, so the VCA attenuators are my solution for that. It probably requires more of a mental overview of the patch when controlling it during recording but it work for me. Nobody ever said that modular should be easy or practical  |
