I have a question regarding the preset memory of this module, is this supposed to be kept when powering down the module?
So far I noticed that my presests from a previous session sometimes get wiped or corrupted when I restart my AE modular. I guess this is not normal behaviour?
I'm pretty sure that you have not encountered this, since it seems like one of those freak occurences like I've had with the METER module, where you have to have all the factors right to create the wrong. I'll try to collect more info on how to recreate this in a repeatable manner.
I have been moving the SWITCH MATRIX 4x4 around in the rack to see whether the position has something to do with it but to no avail. When I boot/reboot my rack some of the presets in my SWITCH matrix get scrambled and have to be re saved. I finally managed to get the phenomenon on video to prove that I'm not making this up.
I don't know if it is any help but I have long since lost the ability to save presets on my Yamaha TX81Z, this is due to a cell battery not holding its charge anymore. Could this be a problem on your switch matrix?
What are you powering with and how big is your rack?
Id pull that and the power/master module, and try it with just the two connected to each other.
It is stored in a standard two row rack. powered with the AE power supply. The test of connecting master to matrix is imho useless since I want to use the matrix together with other modules in the same rack.

It would tell you if the problem lies in the module or in the rest of the set up. I don't think that's useless.
So far it is only one preset i.e. preset 5 that gets sometimes its contents scrambled, could this be an issue in the firmware of the Matrix, if it even has a firmware?
I must admit that the switch matrix is the most frustrating module I have in my rack, presets are only presets in name since my matrix gets its presets garbled at random moments when booting hte module, which imo is not very useful. Today, I followed tIB 's suggestion, I removed the power module from my rack and the switch matrix and I connected them directly together and connected the tangible wave power supply that came with my starter2 rack and lo and behold, preset 1 got completely scrambled. I re programmed preset 1 and saved it, rebooted my test rig and no preset got overwritten, did a few more boot tests and again lost presets at random moments.
It seems like, at least my, switch matrix susceptible to booting issues just like the METER module?
