Hello all, just received the Meter module and I'm very happy with it, but there's something about it that I do not understand. Sometimes, when I power on my system, the upper half of the screen remains dark. The lower half the screen will work, but the upper half is just blank. This has happened a few times, and usually if I power cycle the system the module will activate and work properly. However, I'm worried that there is something faulty with the unit, and that over time the situation will deteriorate. Do I have a faulty unit? Is there anything I should do?

This sounds quite odd; I haven't seen this by myself. I think, changing the module is the best way - I have no idea what you could do by yourself. Please concat me by PM / email, thanks!

I have dscovered the same behaviour in my METER module, but I thought it was linked to the powersupply, 'cause changing the oirignal AE powersupply for a truetone 1.9a supply solved the issue, which is extra weird since my whole setup according to modulargrid consumes well below 500mA of power. However, im not sure whether this is the right solution since I'm not sure that the MASTER I/O module can take that powersupply without a problem.

I have been investigating the METER problem further and I can now reproduce perfectly how to start the issue and how to resolve it using the power supply that was provided with my starterrack 2.
If i plug the power cable in the master module and then plug the wallwart in the power outlet then the top lines of the meter module don't show up.
If I now unplug the cable from the MASTER I/O module, while the wall wart is still inserted in the power outlet, and reinsert the cable in the MASTER I/0 module it then the whole rack reboots and the METER module shows all its lines.
I defined my whole setup in modular grid and the total power consumption is allegedly less than 500mA so well below 800mA.
I hope somebody can explain me this, 'cause I'm no electronics engineer.

That is interesting — it seems that perhaps the power supply has some ‘rise time’ when first energised; so that in the first case the rack is seeing power lines gradually reaching 5v, but in the second case (where the power supply is already plugged in) the voltage rises more sharply. The processor in the METER module may be sensitive to this slower rise time so that it starts too early somehow (or the display is sensitive and the processor starts sending data before the display is fully awake).
It’s an interesting (but very annoying) issue 😕

The buchla 282e has issues on startup due to the 4 processors not being able to boot correctly upon power up (rise time I'm guessing). The solution there was to add a capacitor (and change a couple of resistor values), so that, if I understand correctly,the delay from charging the capacitor allows the processors to correctly boot. Perhaps relevant here? |

Can’t explain it but i had a similar issue with the power supply that came with my Field Kit FX. I power it with a Ripcord thing now and it seems to solve the issue for whatever reason.

Thanks for the detailed explanantions! We will check the issue! I encountered it a few times by myself in our testbench system (which has only a few modules); I think it's a timing issue in the communication with the OLED display - namke, any ideas? |

I also discovered timing issues on the matrix switch; it would show different settings than the selected preset one |
