I'd been thinking about using my AE system as the central part of a live techno setup for a while. The main idea is to use modular to turn on-off and manipulate sound layers. But something was mixing from the picture until Robert introduced TRIQ64. I've ordered one together with additional 2ENV and VCA and another MIXER-4. So here it it: I'll use TRIQ64 4 parts to trigger 4 env, which control 2x2 VCA.
That means i have 4 mono audio track.
Each of these tracks comes from an audio source which can be AE oscs or external audio coming from I/O4.
Then these audio tracks will go to 2 MIXER-4s then become a stereo mix. Then while performing I would turn on / of these 4 audio tracks, or add-remove steps... all with the TRIQ64's interface. And because each track uses an env so I can modulate those with LFO and SEQ-16 and whatever CV signal.
What do you think about my idea?

This is a great idea! I have only 3 ENV, 4 VCA and 2 Mixers, so I'll try this with 3 channels. If you would add another 2VCA one for each mixer output then you could also create stereo panning effects with LFOs or something.

yeah, something ive learnt recently on my eurorack setup is that mixing is a big part of modular... but rarely discussed yours sounds like an interesting approach, as you can fade in/out which is important, and automation is interesting for creating parts. if you don't need fading, then another interesting module to consider is the vcswitch, this can be used in a variety of ways, e.g. you can use it for easy muting, or switching parts. what I like about 4io is that you can both a mix and individual output, useful for sends/returns … and 4-4mixer is pretty useful too, given it also has the unity(?) mixer (B) I wonder if some of the more advanced eurorack mixer might be interesting in AE. e.g. befacos hexmixer , which has mute/solo/send matrix mixers.... again useful for send/returns all interesting stuff... worth exploring in this weeks patch challenge ?

Certainly worth a go, bet you'll end up "needing" more modules though....

Interestingly, Ladik just dropped a module that's a dedicated effects send. How it works is that there are "through" busses (three in their case) off of which there are taps to feed two sends. Pretty easy to implement. really...just diode-protect the taps and the sends so there's no reverse-mixing of audio, and there you are. Six knobs = a three-way send mix per send...easy-peasy! Robert could probably bung one together in his sleep!
