Hey all! Thanks to anyone who supported by buying kits over the last days, the first small batch of Quad Boosts (7 'leftovers' from the working prototype phase) sold out so quick New and slightly revised PCB layout (no circuit changes, just layout) has arrived yesterday and I just finished soldering & testing it, and it works just as well and gritty as the previous one. So wanted to let all now that they are restocked on my tindie page! www.tindie.com/stores/keurslagerkurt/

Good to hear that people like your modules. I have not gotten around building my quad boost since I have no more room in my rack (first world problems). But if it's anything like your deadband then I'm sure it will be another quality addition to my setup.

Ordered my kit on Sat 4th and it arrived today here in the UK on Sat 10th.
I'm working this weekend but will post an update when I've built the kit.

Glad it arrived well as you were the first UK buyer. Can i ask you if you had to pay customs/vat/extra costs on receiving the package? Not sure how it all goes since brexit..

I was expecting to be charged VAT but did not have to pay any extra charges.

Mu understanding is that we can spent up to £130 and would not be charged any VAT/Duty; Over that and you can get plastered, as there is a £10-25 admin charge before anything else...

I've just received my first post-Brexit order from TW, spent £113, and have paid no VAT/Duty, :-)

If anyone is hesitating on this, go for it. The quad boost is a really nice little module-- it should take less than an hour to assemble and isn't super complex. When you're done you have 4 channels of really nice-sounding transistor gain. The basic instructions as recommended give you 2 smooth channels and 2 more overdrive-like channels. It can be gritty or smooth and sounds pretty nice. The different transistors give each channel a little bit of different character even beyond the different gain characteristics from the different resistors. I'd be pretty happy with 1 or 2 channels in a module, so having 4 channels is fantastic.

I wholeheartedly agree, I finished the soldering only yesterday since my Weller soldering station only arrived yesterday and mounted it in the second rack. I love the differences between the 4 channels they really add all their different colour the the sound, I was worried first that this module would be like the singal amp module but I will use this module more for extra harmonic colouring of sounds whereas the signal amp is just a great signal amp (captain obvious to the rescue). Just a heads up to the potential buyers of this kit make sure you have some blank modules that you can harvest the screws of because this kit as well as the dAEdband kit come without the screws to fix the front panel to the spacers. Luckily I had enough blanks lying around to disassemble for screws. Excellent kits nonetheless, would always recommend. Definetly great kits for the more advanced beginner aka someone who already soldered THT components on a pcb, especially this one has a lot of tiny resistors and components that are quite close to eachother, but if you follow the order of restors, capacitors, transistors, potmeters, headers then it is all very straightforward just remember to solder the transistor Q3 in reverse orientation.

Woohoow, awesome to hear! I was myself suprised with this super simple circuit at the time. These transistor circuits are messy & nonlinear in nature, which brings new ("analog warmth?!") sounds to the tAEble. Considering the screws: that was indeed an issue with the first kits I shipped (you were one of the earliest adopters ). By now it is solved! Each kit contains two frontplate screws, as it should be. I just forgot about them with the first kits, and then it was an issue of shipping time to get the right screws too my front door and in the kits.. And at last: like you mentioned, this kit is a bit more 'advanced' because it has a lot of components on the board. But nothing too 'advanced' that you'll need some extra tools or years training.. Just a little bit of extra time & patience is enough!
