My guess (i don't have the METER) is:
MIDI out from meter to MIDI in on master module, bus CV (which comes from the master module) to the oscillator being calibrated, then one of the waveforms out from the oscillator back to some input on the METER module.
That way the meter could send out a MIDI note and "hear" which frequency was generated, and suggest corrective measures if needed.
Just guessing though.
