Wait, i'm more confused now. Both SQ-1 and AE came with a minijack-MIDI adapter. Are we saying the following wouldn't work properly? SQ-1 > Korg adapter > standard 5-pin MIDI cable > AE adapter > Master module So one adapter is type A and one type B, but i'd thought having the midi cable in between them would straighten all that out as long as the correct adapter is connected to it's corresponding equipment? Or are we talking about sending MIDI entirely over a 3.5mm cable (is that even a thing?? I've never encountered it) Maybe i'll go back to CV...  My earlier post in this thread suggests exactly what you said: Use a standard MIDI lead and the supplied adaptors, it's easier in the end. |

Ah gotcha - the cable surgery is only required if you want to go 3.5mm all the way 
if i've learned one thing from years of fiddling with music gear - from guitars and fx pedals to synths, MIDI and modular - it's that few things are quite as "plug and play" as you would hope!
