PULLING THE OLD SWITCHEROOTheme: Create a patch that makes use of all three of the switches in the 3VCSWITCH module Submission window: Monday 3rd June -> Monday 10th June (23:59:59) Background: The 3VCSWITCH module is three bi-directional voltage-controlled switches - quite a versatile module. There has been recent discussion here on the forum about the ways in which this module has been used and at times it is almost a solution looking for a problem, i.e. if there's something that needs doing, this can help. To really push the module, this challenge is looking for all three switches to be used, and you get to choose the direction. If you only use one or two, don't worry and still post. Not everyone will have this module, so to make it interesting for those people, you can consider what problem you would solve with the module and post that. You never know your problem might get solved as a contribution. To really spice it up, try to think about how you could solve it (even partially) without the module and post that. As always, have fun and be creative. P.S. Yes, this really is #16 and you didn't miss #15 - that was the Superbooth Special.
The challenge is set, and runs during the submission window set out above, however, please feel free to add entries or leave comments after the initial challenge has ended. Each entry should contain:- Link to audio or video example (embedded preferred)
- Short (or not so short) patch notes, explaining how you have built on the above theme
Your entry can be as short/long as you wish, a simple sound or a track, use external fx or synths, do what you can in the time you have - go wild, make the challenge yours! You are welcome to use previous entries, as inspiration, build on them to form something new, or just use in a different way, you are welcome to submit multiple entries. If you are posting on social media (youtube, soundcloud) , please tag with #AEChallenge and #AEModular, and include a link back to the challenge thread here on the AE Modular forum. Everyone is actively encouraged to comment on entries, provide feedback and ideas... you are welcome to continue commenting/discussing outside of the submission window. the more we discuss the more we all learn
This is part of the AE patch challenge series - if you would like more information, or have ideas for the challenge, please post on the patch challenge thread.

Oh I’m so looking forward to see/hear all your takes, I don’t have this module but was looking for a while to see what it is capable of.

So I have an idea for a patch that should be useful if I can get it working... I just need a bit of time at my AE Modular. Tomorrow, I hope.
In the meantime, for those of you without the module (or even those with it) don't forget that you can post ideas and/or problems that you think could be solved. It might just provide the right input for someone else.

It's been fun - this challenge. For the first time I've used all three switches within 3vcswitch module. So I've tried to run through it three different things. The first switch switches between two VCOs. It's ouput travels (via multi) two separate ways - one to Nyle and Delay, the second to Spring Reverb. The rate of change of one vco to another is determined by the output of second switch which combines two different triggers: gate and accent from SEQ16. Those signals go via Logic module and it's two outputs: AND/XOR. These outputs feed the second switch inputs. It's rate is controled by LFO triangle output. The third switch runs in the opposite way. It's IO3 input is fed by the same LFO output (via 2att/cv module). It's two ouputs control second VCO pitch or it's frequency modulation with a rate beeing inverted LFO output. In the middle of the track I've switched both evelopes to trigger instead of gate, hence the start/stop sound. I thought it was cool:) There were some other modules involved (another fast LFO make vibrato effect on WASP, one VCO goes through Wavefolder etc.) but as this is the 3VCSWITCH challenge I think it's enough The result is short miniature in a very meditative mood. All the sounds and FX are recorded directly from the AEM with no other alteration.

Phew .. my second video this long weekend (for some reason Australians celebrate The Queen's Birthday ... NOT on her actual birthday) anyway that gave me an extra day to play which is nice. My switches go two in one out and one in two out and all have to do with filters and rythmically switching between them which works quite well when using the delay module. Not quite Berlin school sequencing yet ... but still working on it Switch #1 - switches constantly between two voices and that goes into a delay with ample feedback for some melodic echoes. The first voice is one osc going through the Wasp filter which has its cutoff controlled by the SEQ16 - even though there is no pitch changes on the osc by just changing the cutoff on the filter you get a nice melody. Voice two is another osc going through the SV filter with resonance setting resonably high, but no quite self oscillating (except when switch #2 comes into play!) Switch #2 - switches between two different settings coming from the 4ATT/Mix. I'm setting two channels to +5V and using the attenuators I can dial in the exact amount of cutoff for the SV filter .. when the switch changes I get some nice self oscillating pings now and then. Switch #3 - this is taking one oscillator and putting it either through the Nyle filter BP or HP in addition to the LP which is always on. This voice is played by the Keystep and gets CV and Gate from MIDI. Some bass beat is added from the mighty LOPAG module. All rhythmic variations are coming through complex interplay from 2 LFOs, the new Multi Mode Divider module, LOGIC and TRIQ164 ... so there's heaps going on at different times.

Excellent, admin, and great use of the 3CVSWITCH. I'm pleased that the Queen helped you out with the challenge This is particularly impressive as you did everything within the AE Modular - and you produced a nice-looking video as well. Plenty for me to aspire to when I have another try at what I was doing yesterday, although I might temper my aspiration as it seems like the 4ATTMIX is happy if you're using it in attenuate mode and you're not worried about precise amounts, but then I imagine a Precision Adder version might cost a little bit more and I might have been asking for too much from the module.

Hey admin , Very good Audio... nice Video and a cool big Rack... I like that. I ordered a Switch but don't have it yet, the first easy thing that comes to my mind is switching between different lfos for wobblebasses. I think 4 lfos should be possible with 3 switches if you chain them.

So as not to waste the work I did with the AE Modular yesterday creating the sequence, here's a snippet. The use of the switches to transpose will come a bit later and I will re-post The sequence is created completely within the AE Modular. There was quite a lot of modulation going on via the LFOs into the SVFILTER and the WAVESHAPER and the LFOs were switched using the spare input on the 3CVSWITCH, so I suppose I started on the challenge

Finally got everything together and actually finished recording it. This patch does this patch challenge and Number 17, a fire coloured sky over trees.... The pulse was via the 3CV switch and used the latch later on in the "piece". The opening sound was the same pitch as the pulse, but went through a Filter and the MultiFX (on resoverb), the MMT button on the 3VC switch made nice, subtle changes, latch didn't do much! The ending noise was white noise through the Wavefolder module, when the noise goes high and "squifflely" that is the latch button on the 3VC Switch being pressed. An Lfo is the mod source for the 3VC switch and not sure why that happens but I like it! Will post in 17 as well with slightly different info.
