Hey, with so many modules out, I was wondering if we could collectively come up with some "Serge/Ken Stone inspired" module configurations. Of course we don't really have any such modules in the line up specifically, but we might come close, at least when it comes to the "feeling" or "general concept". I'll give it a shot, with a list.
- Any LOGIC module - WAVEFOLDER (of course) - VCO (analog VCO) - uSH/RANDOM/NOISE (and other NOISE and S&H modules) - SLEW/EDGE (very versatile) - 2ENV (also versatile) - POLAMIX (inversion and offset) - CVADDER (offset) - ENV. FOLLOWER - CVSHIFTER (Ken Stone has some cool shift register based designs) - FILTERS (analog filters) - SEQ8 (one sequencer track with two separate outputs)
I would say that the Serge concept includes: ... analog modules ... some additive synthesis (using signals like sine waves and folding them to become richer in timbre) ... some subtractive synthesis (using rich signals like pulse waves and shaving them off with filters) ... modules that offer lots of patch points and a way to create different functions with a single module. Like the 2ENV, which can be an envelope, an LFO, a trigger delay, etc. ... logic modules ... signal processing like folding, inversion and offsetting
What do you think?

Here there are a lot of nice modules with schema and discription: Ken Stone

SWEET! We have comparators now. I have every one of these modules.

Hi. What about a GRAINS with Scheveningen.ino instead of the WAVEFOLDER?

Well, GRAINS is digital. The original post specified analog-only modules.

Well, GRAINS is digital. The original post specified analog-only modules. Since we don't have actual Serge/Ken Stone Modules in AE format, including digital modules that provide similar functionality is probably not bad at all. A while ago I actually coded a norns script that emulated the Infinite Melody and Modulo Magic: llllllll.co/t/nmmelodymagic/44573

Sweet! GRAINS with West-coast has always intrigued me.
Here's a question: How would we make a Stepped & Smooth Generator from existing AE modules?

Here's a question: How would we make a Stepped & Smooth Generator from existing AE modules? Probably sample and hold, a couple of slew edges, dual envs (as there's currently no vclfo/VCS), attenuators and probably a window comparator or two. As I've said before in the modules wanted thread, the format really needs a VCS approximation: Serge is built around that integrator circuit imho (and it's also the core of the SSG). Think you're going to struggle to get Serge-like feedback in a 5v system too fwiw. Edit: I'll add that logic and counting is pretty important in serge, so get the logic and mm/div into your serge wannabe systems.
