We do have a few threads on the forum where people list their favourite books on music and synthesis. Because those threads to slip to the background after a while I've done the work for you and collected a list of books from half a dozen of those threads on this wiki page: wiki.aemodular.com/pmwiki.php/AeMusic/BooksPlease let me know if you know of any other free or paid publications that should be on that list!

I keep hoping for a scan that isn't that "Property of the City of New York" one I started a 'blog a while ago that was based on my adventures with this very book. I must reactivate it now that I have acquired a much better field recorder. At the time I was using my mobile phone for the recordings.

For the danes here I can recommend "Modulsynthesizere" by Keld N. Sørensen. The book is from 2005 and focuses on Doepfer, but it is a great and concise starter on modular synthesis in general.

And of course there's the original ARP 2600 owner's manual. Nice! I'm waiting in anticipation of the Behringer 2600 which I might treat myself to next year! On another note ... we need to be careful about listing copyrighted material here on the forum and also on the wiki. This is a murky area especially with old and out of print texts, but I don't want this forum taken down by an overzealous lawyer. My feeling is that we should play it safe and if you aren't sure about the copyright situation of a resource then don't link to it directly, but rather mention it and people might ask you in a PM about the link (not sure if that makes it less illegal, but at least it's not on the public forum where bots can stumble upon it). Also copyright laws differ across countries, so I'll be guided by your collective advice!

Also copyright laws differ across countries, so I'll be guided by your collective advice! All books on the AE-Wiki are copyrighted material, even the old books. But you are free to list these books and, as in University libraries, you can present the list as "educational resources".
You can maintain links to sales sites, and if people need a "free copy for studies" they can PM for the link.

And look what appeared as a Behringer Facebook post this morning... the 2600 is in production (well, there's a picture of a circuit board at least).

Yet another book I didn't finished, but it seems to me that understanding the art of sound organization provides some good thoughts about what we want to do as electronic musicians. It as a really opened view of the artistic and aesthetic turn allowed by the possibility of manipulating sounds with tape, synth, computers and so on.

hmm, looks like its time to think about updating my V1 edition of Mr Collins’ book! also worth mentioning he has made a rudimentary website with all kinds of additional info and stuff that has been bumped from ed.2 to make room for new stuff.. definitely worth a gander: www.handmadeelectronicmusic.com
