Greetings all, I just purchased my starter system 2 at Noisebug a week ago and can't stop playing it. Already ordered a few more modules However, it has come to my attention that there is a new version of the MASTER I/O module which can now switch between MIDI channels 1, 14-16. I'd like to know if it is possible to make the "update" myself to the older module which can only do MIDI ch 1 or omni. I'm not opposed to making a DIY upgrade.
Thanks,
-Delta

Hi, replacing the module is not a big issue and you can do it by yourself: Loose the four screws at the bottom of the case, then you can lift out the module, remove the bus cable plug and plug on the new module. Unfortunately Noisebug received the previous version of the MASTERs because the newer ones weren't available yet...

Thanks, -Delta Hi deltasine, welcome to the AE community. Unfortunately it won't be possible to DIY this upgrade. There are new control elements (DIP switches) on the front panel which are soldered directly to a newly designed PCB. It might seem like a waste to you to have to buy another Master module when you're just starting out, but if you do continue to expand your system, you might find a use for the second master module later on when you want to have two cases that run on two different MIDI channels. This is the route I'm going to take!

I seem to remember some threads in the DIY forum for midi to CV conversion. I don’t know if that went anywhere. Obviously the least time intensive way would be to buy the new master 😋

Ah thank you @careck , I was indeed considering to expand the system as more modules are on the way and am running out of space :'D I'm able to get such interesting sounds just with the VCOs filters etc, it has become a permanent part of the rig. Overall, really happy with my AE
