A big shout out to every1 in the forums and thank you for the summary posted here. How thick are the module-/blank-panels in mm? What is the size/length of the female standoffs used for the blank panels in mm? How thick are the printed circuit boards used by tangible? Thanks!

I think all (or at least most) of your answers can be found in this thread and the technical doc that Technobear provided: forum.aemodular.com/thread/93/ae-modular-technical-guide

I notice something that's not in the document or discussion below in the thread: most AE board use a PCB 'sandwiched' between M3 hex spacers. Easiest way to see how its done, is by pulling out a module and watching it. These hex spacers need to be one 'female-female' and one 'female-male'. That way, you can screw them together, and you can fix them to the board with another M3 screw.

I still have not received my items from tangible, so no measurements possible at this time. In the meantime I am designing stuff with CAD software but I need measurements for the panel and PCB.

The CAD looks good already! You can find the MDF frontplate thickness in the DOC, and Robert commented the pcb thickness in the thread linked above 😃

Indeed I have found the measurements.
Front panel thickness is 1.5mm
PCB thickness is 1.6mm
So all in all a standoff height for a blank panel should be 8 mm + 1.6 mm + 15 mm = 24.6 mm ≈ 25 mm if I am not mistaken. Anyone with a blank panel who can measure it for us? Is it a 25 mm M3 standoff for a blank panel? Or is it 24 mm with the use of some additional distance spacers? On the product photo(s) it is not clearly pictured from underneath unfortunately.

I made some a bit too short and simply added washers - but I guess it depends if you will always feel guilty knowing the imperfections are in there, taunting you while invisible to others, who would never understand your pain.
Me? I kinda got over it eventually.

In most modules/blank panels I have not encountered washers, altough I have noticed some in some modules if I recall correctly. Anyways, if the spacers are just a tad bit too short, thats mostly not a problem for me, as I just screw in the screws and female-male spacers a bit less tight in that case

Those nylon spacers that came with the blank panels form Tangible Waves, coupled with a very sharp knife, meet most of my needs!

Hello Does anyone found a place to buy round female header for the IOs ? The usual square ones are so bad with contact. Thanks

Hello Does anyone found a place to buy round female header for the IOs ? The usual square ones are so bad with contact. Thanks I found compatible ones from RS (toward the bottom of the previous page here). They are shorter than the 'official' ones, but Robert is also now selling the official ones from the TW webshop… www.tangiblewaves.com/store/p123/10_x_PATCH_SOCKETS.html
