I finally took the plunge and placed an order some days ago.
Only 3 empty units... But that will keep me busy for a while. Can't wait to receive it !

Looks good. It is great to be able to plan this way with your excellent tool - I just used jpgs in a graphics programme. I worked hard thinking about my (first) expansion and planning it... and I still didn't buy enough blanks. Still, I will be putting that right very soon.

It's amzing how your tool made it simplier to share a set up!
Looks like you gonna have some fun here, wish you the best with it, it's truely an amazing instrument to play with.

You've chosen an excellent group of modules, only thing would suggest adding is the Multi-FX module; although the lo-fi delay is my favourite of the 2, the Multi-FX can do a ton of stuff and more reverb can always be handy...

I did hesitate but in the end I decided that for "static" effects to put at the end of the mix, I'll rely on an external effect. For now I have actually chosen to get a Zoom G1on, which is not only dirt cheap but has excellent reviews, can be used with headphones and powered with USB. When (not if ) I get a bigger rack, I will probably go with it, if only for the VC'ed parameters !

For now I have actually chosen to get a Zoom G1on, which is not only dirt cheap but has excellent reviews, can be used with headphones and powered with USB. When (not if ) I get a bigger rack, I will probably go with it, if only for the VC'ed parameters ! Even after my first expansion, I have elected to stay with external effects. I thought hard about the MULTIFX, and also the HPAMP - all with the aim of making it a self-contained Noodle Machine My simplified pros/cons thinking was as follows. Pros = self-contained, can form a "complete sound", better integration into my sound design, can sit and noodle anywhere (especially with battery pack), and effects parameters can be automated. Cons = replicating my existing large effects farm (which has some specialised and expensive units), using module space that could go to more interesting (to me) modules, would need multiple units to achieve my desired design, and can't configure the effects routing. So, my solution was to fill up my racks with interesting (to me) modules that aren't replicated outside of the rack... but... to consider an additional "now I'm portable" single-row rack for the future. I love my effects routing possibilities outside of the AE Modular and I am hands-on with it, doing quite a lot of real-time adjustment/moduation. I have been tempted by the thought of an effects loop (or loops), so that I can feed my effects configurations into the sound design before the final mix out. To this end, I didn't know if the SPRINGREVERB (just the module) would work, or if I would need to build something - especially if I wanted to go stereo without phase issues. A very large part of my personal sound design is the effects that are added and manipulated and my preference is hardware (and analogue, where possible/I can afford it), rather than inside a DAW. Hopefully laying out my thinking helps to provoke thinking for others when considering which route to follow - I certainly don't believe I am an expert in these things, I just know what I want to achieve and I know when I get there.

At least with AE, "more" isn't the sort of thing that requires a second mortgage!
