Wow!! Great module! How fast it's the CV sample select? It's usefull as a "drum machine"? It only plays one sound at a time, but that could be a drum loop of course.... I can see it alongside the Drumkit 010 module as "other" percussion.
The other option is have 2,3 or 4 and use the TRiQ4 or Euclid Grid to trigger each module separately  |

you could use the SEQ8 or 16 to play different samples at each step. that would be really cool.

Let me get this straight: with a sampler I can go out and record nature sounds with camera, but I would have to transcode the audio into 8-bit for the sampler to play it back?

The simple answer is yes, there are quite a few, free programs out there that can do this.... All you need to check is that there is a "save as" for 8 bit wav file.... I have a program called Wavepad by NCH, forgotten how much it was but wasn't expsensive - I use it to do all my audio file alterations to suit different websites, formats etc... |

Audacity is the way to go!
Thinking of getting this one just as a 'clap' module (and of course other samples as well).

Can I just double check there's no chop points on this? Ie if multiple samples were stitched together into a longer single sample I'd need to manually find the starts of those samples with whatever CV I'm sending it?
Also, does it reverse the sample if start point crosses the end point, or will it not allow that?

No chop points. So you would need to find out the CV for start points of stitched samples .. however I'm not sure why you would want to do that if you can just as easily have 10 single samples in the one folder and use CV to call up those individually.
I'm not sure about the reversing, but I assume that you can't have a loop end point before the loop start .. that would be confusing.

I found this utility for batch conversion: github.com/wieslawsoltes/BatchEncoder/wiki/EncodersI haven't used this in particular, and there are probably others-- something like this is likely a handier way to do that kind of conversion than single files in Audacity. I don't know about everyone else, but I have about a TB of random samples and audio files I've been hoarding for decades and dropping them on an SD card and playing them through AE sounds like great fun... 8)

Hm. If you send it a sample select CV while a sample is playing, does it switch immediately or the next time it's triggered? Could you, for example, blat some RBSS CVs at it and glitch it out heinously? Many experiments to be run. 8)
Anyway, I'm just going to load it up with a bunch of orchestra hits (Fairlight ORCH5 <3) and the old E-Mu Loon Garden bank. Or a bunch of "dum" samples and chainsaws and go full Art Of Noise. Yes.

In fact, Robert did send me a video with those Fairlight samples as a demo, but we didn't put that on Youtube in fear of the copyright algorithm. I searched the web for some info on the legal situation about using those samples and couldn't find a definite answer. |

Yeah, I have no idea at this point-- they've certainly been circulating in various forms and aren't hard to find. I'm pretty sure that's what got stuck into one of the Akai R-50s, too. (Or maybe it's just that old Wax Trax bands used that and a Fairlight and all the orchestra hits have blurred together.) It sure showed up on a lot of records either way.

Nicely done, and seems like a really powerful addition to the system! When anyone gets this can they confirm that start/end can't overlap (and reverse the sample) - assume this is the case given the reverse button but just double checking before I make the plunge (or not). |
