Hello ecleinjr, please note that the AE Modular takes only 9 Volts and feeding it any more than that might damage it. The battery that you link to delivers 12 Volt so it would be too much. Also be careful with plugs from guitar pedals .. most guitar pedals have a centre negative plug whereas the AE system needs a centre positive plug! There are adaptors out there for either way, but you need to consider this carefully before you plug anything into your AE. I actually use a stock standard mobile phone battery pack that delivers 5 Volt via USB at 1A. I then bought a cable from ebay that transforms 5V into 9V with a centre positive plug. It works really nicely and means that I can use the same battery for charging my phone and running the AE at the same time.

Finally my myvolts.co.uk Ripcord has turned up (2.5 years Kickstarter!) , really nice cable, works nicely for usb battery to AE modular, fairly long cable - its good up to 1a @9v, which is probably something like 4 rows. (there are various voltages available, and they also do nice spitters, extensions etc) Im going to test it for a little while, but assuming its holds up to initial impressions, I'll probably order a couple more for other devices.

Finally my myvolts.co.uk Ripcord has turned up Cool! Let us know how you like it! I’ve looked at those before, but wondered if they were significantly better than the cheap Chinese ones you can get.

Hi, is this the one available on ebay? Then I presume any battery pack with a USB port with do, more mAh the better...

if its called 'ripcord' then I guess so... its made myvolts, you can order from them directly - myvolts.co.uk its not the cheapest but its really nice and tidy, and a good long cable on it... and I love the fact its labelled clearly. before I was using a switchable 12v/9v converter - which was a bit bulky, and I always feared, one day, I would accidentally put it into the wrong position. and you really don't want to send in a higher voltage into a device than it was designed for!

yes, they are on ebay... weird pricing though, the centre negative ones are only £10.50 , centre positive ( the one you want ) £11.99! so add a £1.50 polarity changer to the centre neg one to get a more versatile set up? maybe? 5v batteries with 25000 mah are common,, and sometimes come up on amazon at 15.99... though usually they stick around £25 .. the Ripcord , as thetechnobear says is nice and compact... if you are just using a battery the cheapo ones will probably do ya, BUT if you want to step up yr 5v phone power charger etc to power the AE on a handluggage holiday then the Ripcord will be less prone to induce noise.. Robert’s choice is cool and simplifies things... rare to have 9v output.. but it’s only 10000mah so quite expensive for 2 fifths of the power hours.. i actually like the look ( and price ) of the switchable 9v/12v one with the volt readout that @careck posted... so will probably get one as well... we need to do a wiki on the battery question.. it comes up often..

(also bizarrely, ive found some devices seems to prefer one rather than the other, and not always the bigger one … not sure why, possibly something to do with initial load and how battery responds)

Thanks Guys, the centre positive/negative thing was one of my questions to follow. Have ordered from myvolts site as same price as their ebay shop anyway. Once I've got it I will delve into a suitable battery....

For folks in Australia (3 people? although I'm sure it is available in a variety of brands from China), here's a rather badass battery solution.
I'm seriously considering using it busking, if I decide to add a tweeter to my old GK mini bass amp (my yellow Crate Taxi amp somes weedy now I've heard the AE through very BIG speakers). And it has a flashlight.
Maybe overkill but, if going bush with a solar panel for a week or two ...

I've been using the Strom mobile power device from Koma Electronik with great success: koma-elektronik.com/?product=strom-mobile-portable-power-solutionThe positives are that it's 'safe' and you can switch between 9 and 12 volts--in case you also wanted to carry something eurorack. Also you can power two devices simultaneously--even one 9 volt and one 12 volt. Bad news is that it's a bit expensive (though currently on sale!) and while it's very lightweight, it's one more thing to carry with you as you still need one or two powerbanks.

Nice stuff...0-18V variable (with coarse and fine voltage adjustments) @ 5A max. Linear supply, too...quieter, more stability. Plus if I increase the size of the modular and need more power, two of these TEK supplies can operate in a parallel mode for higher current. Valuetronics is where my unit came from, also...not hideously spendy for the amount of power it delivers, plus mine was pre-calibrated by them before I got it.
Definitely not the right solution if you just have a Starter System...but those deep into their second cab and contemplating a third might want to eyeball these.

Hi everybody ! I tried this one, and yes it works great.
They give you the cable to reverse the polarity, and you have two 9v outputs, so you can plug other stuff, like a guitar pedal.
And also, I wanted to get my Volca Key powered by the same battery, so I bought these :
So it allows me to power both my AE synth and the volca.
