glad you got hooked up. Its great and so easy! only thing I noticed was the linking had to be done on the PC as I couldn't find it in the app. maybe user error though.

Pretty sure it's not an app issue but an issue with my module.

the save button can't be seen on the preset naming page until you click it it would be awesome if you could provide a screenshot and the android version that you're running. you could also open an issue in the github-repo

Hi tIB Thanks for sharíng.. in the Google play store says: this app its not available in your country (i'm from Argentina)..any idea to install it? Thanks a lot! seems like i made a mistake when setting up the publishing-policy for google playstore.
i just changed it make it available for all countries.
that change will have to go through a review by google tho. so that might take some time. in the meantime you could just grab the apk from the github-repo and install manually.

Got into the whole modular thing just the other day. The TBD app is turning out to be less plug n play than expected. I'm not getting any interface between the module and my computers, on PC it simply doesn't let me past the initial screen in the browser editor, on android it's just "waiting for device". More interested in the Android aspect honestly. Downloaded the app yesterday so it's that version of the app. Firstly I feel the more techy parts of the installation explanation are a bit casually glossed over for something geared towards beginners. I managed to enable USB debug mode on my phone and messed with the "default USB mode", to no avail. Still have no idea what enabling serial ports really means, searching came up with a bunch of github links and I honestly and unfortunately suck major balls at anything programming-related. Downloaded some "Serial USB terminal" apps which seem to not recognize anything connected to the port (different cables/adapters used for different devices). Phone is a Samsung Galaxy S10, Android version 11 and 12, which I'm updating further as we speak. Unfortunately Samsungs like this one offer no direct OTG features, other tutorials just on it largely just suggest stuff I ready did. Gonna try later with a different older (also Samsung) phone. Maybe I'm just dumb but I feel it'd help to clarify some of the instructions on things like these, it may feel like dumbing down from the perspective of a STEM/IT person, but it pays to be inclusive.

Hi, I'm sorry that your experience of the TBD applications is so frustrating for you. As I understand it you tried to run the TBD software on your PC following the instructions given on the wiki at wiki.aemodular.com/pmwiki.php/AeManual/TBD and as demonstrated in my video (at the bottom of that page), is this correct? I assume that your PC is Windows so you would have downloaded the TBD package for windows at wiki.aemodular.com/uploads/Binaries/TBDConnect/ is this correct? You then attached the USB cable from your TBD module (which is in the rack and switched on) to your PC and started the .exe file of the TBD app. Could you please describe or send a screenshot of what you see then? Unfortunately I don't have a Windows PC handy at the moment so I can follow this through just now. However I tested the Mac version of the app and that worked fine for me. Then you tried to get it to work with the Android app which you downloaded from the Google Play store. You went to your phone's settings under "Developer Options" and enabled "USB Debugging"? Then you connected the TBD via the cable using a USB-C converter to your phone. When I do this I see a message pop up that asks me: "Open TBD to handle USB2.0 serial? [ ] Always open TBD when USB2.0-Serial is connected". I just select OK at this point and the TBD app opens automatically. Then in the app I can select a plugin for channel 0. A good test is to patch an incoming audio into any of the TBD module's inputs, connect the output to your audio out and select the EChorus plugin. Note that there is no visual feedback on the module when you select a plugin on the app other than a quick flash of the LED. All parameters are then controlled via the app when pressing the edit button. Again there is no visual feedback on the module when you change any of the parameters, however you should hear the effect after a slight delay. If you have done all of the above and still have a problem, then please let me know and please provide screenshots so we can figure out what is going wrong. I'm happy to help!

I would like to note firstly my module works totally fine. I got a used system so it has some of the previous owner's half-finished presets. It sounded great and got me real excited, and then later equally frustrated for the same reason. I've successfully used the thing in patches and figured out its quirks in regards to what you mentioned.
Unfortunately stuff isn't super availeble at the moment but I did literally everything you mentioned before I made my initial post. On PC it just takes me to the initial screen as shown on the AE wiki page you linked, I can get as far as the browser interface but clicking the options doesn't do anything, neither does the prompt upload samples in the app window. Don't care much for using it on PC luckily I guess. That one maaaay actually be due to a dodgy old adapter cable, don't really have other mini USB stuff to test it with tho but it may be a charging-only example.
On Android it just doesn't give me any prompt whatsoever when I plug it in the module, as I said even the (frankly confusing and plain) serial USB coding apps I downloaded don't seem to recognize anzything being plugged in. I have since (begrudgingly) updated to the most recent version of Android to no avail. I'm using a Delock mini USB adapter with USB-C cables capable of data transfer. I checked the solder joints for the module's USB port and all of them looked in order, as did the rest of the thing, no wiggle or burnt smells.
Update: I've since tried it with another phone (Motorola Moto 40e, Android 11) no OTG, turned on USB debugging, no change whatsoever.

Seems like I spoke too soon! Some of the apps on the module do not in fact seem to work. Moreover, they have names and parameters like "zo", "Ti piace", "5tat" and "rrrr" (which works and seems to be some kind of crackle simulator), none of which seem to be referenced in the official manuals. Could it be that someone in the past decided to practice their coding skills on the thing and botched it? The guy I bought it from claims he never used the module. The rabbithole grows deeper... Is there a possibility to do a factory reset of some kind? image for proof imgur.com/a/bZhRzEa(I hope the link works imgur isn't what it used to be)

pscum I did have a few problems connecting my Oppo phone to the TBD until I found an OTG connection setting in the advanced settings which disables after 10min of non use. Looking the web Samsung doesn't have this extra setting apart from USB debugging as you've seen. Only thing I found is Samsung doesn't read NTFS only fat32. don't think that relates but mentioning in case. those 'rrrr' names look like presets the previous owner saved and 'shouldn't' be an issue...... but you never know I guess. anyway wasn't much help but I'll keep thinking on it

Found another cable, this one I know is made for data transfer (yes I also tried multiple USB ports both 2.0 and 3.0). The module still doesn't seem to exist to any external devices. It's an infinite loading screen when I press "snap" in the browser interface, the other buttons just don't do anything. Same thing happens in the console when I click on the "Upload Firmware" button in the TBD Connect app, just keeps connecting until it gives up and says "A fatal error has occurred: failed to connect to ESP32: Timed out waiting for packet header." for a split second. Tried using the terminal app as well but it doesn't give me any options to start anything. This stuff's especially frustrating since I intended to use this thing as a primary sound source, don't get me wrong analog oscillators are fun but not my primary focus necessarily. I'm starting to fear that my unit is just busted and I have no idea what the procedure is in such cases, and it's a pretty expensive unit. I'm running Windows 7 btw Including a photo of the module's start screen and gut shots maybe that helps, the USB port does look kinda bent yeah. Could it just be a power thing? The case is pretty packed at this moment, O&C, Solina, Multifx, Seq8, Step10.

UPDATE Good News! Got the damn thing to work finally. On phone anyways. Seems what I needed was an OTG cable for my phone so I guess that's a thing. Still don't know what's up on PC though. Still encountering some bugs I guess like the options for configuration and sample ROM not being availeble and some parameters and control assignments jump around and disappear. Nevertheless, I am finally able to edit parameters and save my own presets and know my module's not broken! Along with *mostly* calibrating the O&C, I can finally start fully enjoying my system. It's nice offloading some of the heavy lifting to digital modules, it's lots of fun and sounds great. Only suggestion I'd make for the app is perhaps adding some buttons alongside the sliders to fine tune the parameters, since getting exact numbers (for things such as tuning) is kinda tricky on a touch screen. This is great news! I'm not sure what's special about an OTG cable, I just used any old cable I had lying around and that just worked. I guess I was lucky! Saving configurations and changing the sample rom are still missing from this version as per the roadmap that was posted at the beginning of this thread. But, yeah, it would be nice to have those at some stage.

Aw damn seems like what confused me was the configuration and sample rom seemed to be working on the screenshots so I assumed they just forgot to cross them off. It's kinda ridiculous how the OTG cable is just a stumpy male-to-female USB cable, which you'd think is similar to a common male-to-male (it's also 3.0). Guess it lets the Samsung phone know something it doesn't otherwise, maybe a byproduct of something seen as a "feature". After I plugged that new cable in it started working so fast I didn't even have time to open the app lol. Edit: Found this on the USB Wikipedia of all places, feel kinda dumb now. Not sure I can fully grasp what it says but sounds like it could have something to do with the issues I've had. Attachments:

Glad you got it working, no need to feel dumb.. USB and it's cables are really crazy and confusing once you delve in.
There are countless of examples with USB cables that only do charging and no data transfer, which drive their users mad because you just don't know looking at the outside, and you just think your device is broken.

Hey there. Sorry for chiming in so late. Glad you got it to work.
I've sadly haven't found the time to implement support for "Configuration" and "Sample ROM". (haven't found time to play with my ae either ) I might get around to that at some point, but can't make any promises.
Regarding the inputs Sliders/buttons etc: I've had quite a hard time trying to get all the control-elements and information cramped into the screen. I'm not a UX designer after all.
As mentioned somewhere in this thread I'm quite interested and open to suggestions. So if anyone feels like just playing around with the ui-layout (even if it's just using ms-paint) and has some good ideas how to make this more usable I would be quite open to rework the layout.

I've got a non layout related suggestion - would it be possible to limit the text length to whatever the maximum is? I've had a bit of troubleshooting tbd side today due to over ambitious preset labelling!
