So, I apologize for gaps in communications, but the winter blues managed to get a hold of me, and I made relatively little progress for quite a while.
Currently I have Euclid Grid v1.1 on the test bench. Good news is the updated switch matrix works, and I have a prototype of updated mute/fill code that appears to be running fine on it. The next thing I'm developing is a clock divider feature which is off to a good start but still untested.
2Auto v1.1 is still unassembled but that will happen soon so I can test Euclid and 2Auto and see if the improved noise filtering circuit is working as expected.
All in all, Q1 still seems likely.
Cheers!

Are the 1.1 revisions all software based or hardware? ie will they be portable to the original units? The v1.1 for both units contain hardware changes. For 2Auto only an updated noise filtering circuit, so no software changes. For Euclid Grid, there is updated noise filtering along with a new switch matrix. At least one new software feature relies on the new hardware, and due to the nature of the hardware change the pinouts have changed on the micro meaning maintaining software backwards compatibility would be quite challenging. That and the fact that I would need to come up with some way to distribute the software changes which would require a custom programming dongle and then that opens up the question of what to do if people end up bricking their devices. I was on the fence about this as I don't fancy the idea of selling a product to someone and then saying "you don't get the upgrades" but at the end of the day opening up that can of worms seems like a much larger task than I have the wherewithal to handle right now... π

Yeah, multiple worm cans there...
I had this in euro a couple of times (early adopter, V2 out shortly after) and from a customer perspective it put me off.
On the other hand I also came across a Bug system in the early days, and went through the whole V2 upgrade there before the system progressed to its current form... the difference was (in terms of me being happy to do that) that the v1 was always a beta system, and well, the whole format is incredible!
Rambling thoughts but I appreciate you'll want to make your wares as good as you can. I'd perhaps call them V2 though, as a v1.1 would certainly put me off having bought v1.0; how many more v.something will there be?!

So, I (think I) came up with a solution that should please everyone.
The updated hardware revision will be called v2. It would contain all of the minor software features that I've developed since the release of v1.
Any software changes that are theoretically compatible w/ v1 I will port (sometime after the release of v2) and make available free of charge in a v1.1 firmware update. To avoid snaggles and obligations, the end user will be responsible for sourcing an uploader and uploading the firmware at their own risk. That being said, I'll test w/ previous beta testers and create an instructional video to assist anyone who may be interested.
In other news, the testing of the v2 hardware seems to be a success, I'll be working to make units available for sale over the next month or so.
Unfortunately, the testing of the v1.1 hardware for 2Auto seems to have failed. I'm going to postpone further development until I've had the ability to get Euclid Grid v2 out the door.
Cheers!

So, updating my update.
I think to do a v2 of either module and do it right, I'd need to spend significantly more effort than I originally anticipated (a stuck on the final 20% sort of thing). I also don't think it's fair to people who may still be waiting to get a Euclid Grid or 2Auto to keep pushing the timeline back for 'nice to have' improvements.
In light of that I think I'm going to be prioritizing getting a 'direct reprint' of both modules back into the webshop ASAP. These would be modules with the exact same functionality as the originals, with fixes for hardware bugs that some users have reported, a true v1.1 if you will. These should be making their way onto the e-shop sometime late this month or early next month. I'll keep you posted.
What does this mean for v2s? Well, I'll continue authoring improvements to the original modules at my own pace. Once I feel they've reached critical mass, I'll compile them into an 'actual' v2 and plan an official release. I don't plan on associating a timeline with that process, and I don't expect it to happen soon, so if you're excited about Euclid Grid, I'd say jump on the v1.1 when that happens. I'm sure regardless of what happens, these original modules will remain relevant no matter what.
What does this mean for me? I can rest easy knowing that I've been able to provide creative tools to the people who want them. It also means I can re-focus my energy on newer projects that excite me more. I'm positive other people will find these projects exciting as well! More to come.
I apologize if all of the recent changes in direction have left anyone confused, but this hardware stuff is truly hard to manage and I'm learning along with everyone else. π
Cheers!

Okay, so I've had a chance to order and test the v1.1 hardware for Euclid Grid. The good news is that it works! The meh news is that while the updated noise filter fixed the power and fiddly output trigger issues it has a slightly higher noise floor than the original version. I don't plan on doing a full re-release until I'm able to fix this issue as I'm not really comfortable releasing a module with regressions in functionality.
That being said I'm debating what I want to do with these five modules I have now though, as they're technically good, barring the noise thing.

Also, follow up good news. Already managed to debug the issue. Gonna put an order in for a production run next week. π€
