Hello all,
A few people have asked me whether we would do another AEtherwaves community album this year. I am really keen to do it and happy to facility it again, however I really don't know how to properly master audio so I would ask if anyone would be happy to take on that job?
I reckon we should aim for an album release on the 1st November, so most of the mastering work would fall into the last week of October.
Please let me know if you would like to help out so that we can do another album!
Cheers, Carsten.

Hi Carsten,
Just a thought, as it's a community album we shouldn't really make the end processing too difficult for yourself or the masterer especially given the extent of the last album and will grow each year I'm guessing. Really given that everyone that sends a track in will be happy with what they have done I think we should just load the tracks up as is or just check/ adjust the volume if way out.
I can't master for #$%^ but more than happy to help if you need someone to just make sure the volumes are kind of the similar.
I wouldn't add/subtract anything but gain/volume if that's even required.
Anyway, the offer is there if no one else wants to do more.
cheers Dan

Without wishing to sound rude to whoever put their time in (sorry!), I had 'issues' with the master of my track on the last one. So from that standpoint I tend to think that maydron might be on to something... If nothing else it would retain the artists intention for their output.

I agree with tIB and maydonpoliris with wheir points " ... we shouldn't really make the end processing too difficult for [Carsten] or the masterer ..." and " ... it would retain the artists intention for their output." On the other hand there may a problem with the volume of the tracks vs. the perceived volume of the tracks ("loudness war"). But as maydonpoliris said, this is a community album and we should keep it simple. By the way... What do you think about online Mastering Services (for example www.bandlab.com/mastering?lang=en)?

Might be a good option for those that want their track mastered somewhat before sending it in.

Hello! I'm willing to volunteer to provide basic "Keep It Simple" mastering for Vol. 4. I will simply level each track, and then the entire collection to - 14 LUFS with a - 2 true peak in iZotope RX. If during my listen through on my very simple "studio" I notice any EQ issues, I'll work directly with the artist on possible modifications to ensure artistic intentions.
I really enjoyed participating in Vol. 3! This is a way to give back to the community and to also get a small bit of exposure for my business, Audio Detroit!
