I've done a better video about the above, as I say in the video, please feel free to ask any questions about it. I bought the MPC One for two main reasons; to update my sampling with touchscreen etc. (brilliant), and to incorporate the AE more into my main studio (it doesn't play well with my MPC2500 - my main song writing tool) - that is working really well so over the moon.
If you use any CV/Gate gear with the AE, we would like to know more - I have started a page in the Wiki for such things but it is mostly drawn from info on websites etc. If you read about a particular device and know it's correct please say so!
Thank you. Pol.
Also, if you would like to know about any "legacy" gear, (i.e. not made anymore), this would be a great place to ask as someone may be doing it, or at least know the answer.

The 1010 blackbox will happily talk midi with the AE modular via the master module and sample audio and cv via the 4 I/O or master module.

I was just thinking about something very similar.... I considered the Polyend Play but I really wanted modern sampling facilities; I looked at several machines but were either much more limited than the MPC One, or way more expensive (e.g. Sythrom Deluge which otherwise fitted my needs quite well). The Squarp Hapax is just a sequencer so not what I was after, not sure it has gate/CV out either. The fact the core of my studio is an MPC2500 obviously influenced the decision as a lot of the workflow was familiar to me, (though it looks very different and the One can do so much more internally, so still a big learning curve).
If you are thinking of a machine just to link to the AE over Midi an awful lot of gear will do; if you are wanting CV/Gate connections, you may find the new (i.e. may not be 100% accurate!) page in the wiki useful:-
For a long time I used an Arturia Beatstep Pro on my AE, which gave me the best of both worlds, but switched to a Keystep as I wanted to be able to play the AE "properly". The Keystep now goes in the USB port of the MPC One so I can record what I play for composing etc. (it plays the AE via the Gate/CV outs). I'm now tempted to buy a larger usb keyboard but am restraining myself.....
Whatever you decided to do, enjoy your AE!
