Hi everyone. It’s been pretty quiet around here lately it seems. I have a question about the Wavefolder. I have seen sound examples with basic analog waveforms. I am wondering what it does to more complex digital waveforms, like the Algodrone or the Drone modules (with multiple waves at once) or the tbd module or even wavetable. Are the results totally messed up (like in a bad unusable way) or are they interesting and thrashy and such?

Good point! In general, a wavefolder adds overtones, so if the input signal is already rich with overtones, it gets even denser and maybe a bit messy or distorted - which isn't necessarily a bad thing ;-) I personally like it to put the wavefolder after a filter; depending on cutoff and resonance you get really wild, powerful sounds. But, as always, try it and listen for yourself!

I think it works well with the Algo, FMOS, Solina, Dronx etc. I like a bit of distortion. Putting one of those through a filter then the clean to the mixer and a second out through the wavefolder and maybe Dronx too and bringing the volume in to add colour. also I find the Wavefolder has a sweet spot with those, for me the Drive and Shape is at about 1'oclock, it can get too distorted.

Interesting question, never thought about feeding the Algodrone through a wavefolder, will definitely try it out. Some interesting patch ideas here.
