Hope that being able to get the error messages leads somewhere... When not using the computer today mine have been stable again - fingers crossed they stay that way, though I already know I need to make a few adjustments to the set of ten... They really are terrific modules when working correctly. I hope they can become stable. Hi Andy, I guess I found the root-cause for the issue: When you connect a favourite (those 10 items that can be accessed on the TBD in standalone-mode) to a preset (settings for an individual plugin as can be seen in the browser) the preset-name is automatically chosen as the favourites name, too. In your case with favourite #4 the name is "Plaits CV mod lpg", but seemingly Favourite-names are limited to 10 characters. So when you try to recall the favourite the crash happens. This simply must have slipped through with our tests, because most names are shorter than this one. I renamed the Favourite to "PlaitsCVml" and the issue does not happen anymore. Of course this is a bug that has to be looked into in more depth, but maybe for now you can simply change the name like this (from the Browser, with the TBD connected via USB):
1. Select Preset No 4 "Plaits CV mod lpg" in the browser 2. Click 'edit' 3. Edit the name to lets say "PlaitsCVml" 4. Press 'store' 5. Go back via "< Favourites" 6. Press 'recall'
This should fix the current issue. To prevent future issues (until there is hopefully a permanent fix available) please make sure, that all Favourites have 10 charactes or less as names...

Aha! I know how that happened now you say that funnily enough - that's because I did a little editting yesterday using the android app which doesn't set a maximum limit for text (I think I recommend that with the developer). The windows/official/older TAP sets a character limit so it must be that. Great news that it's not the old bug, or anything to do with the karplus plugin.

Hi guys, Thanks so much for your intensive testing and problem reporting! I have had another stab at improving the stability and was able to fix a bunch of bugs with the serial communication, backup and restore. With the attached files, please reflash the tbd firmware as usual. Additionally replace in the tapp application folder with what is in the ..._www.zip In order to see if things work better, you cannot use your old all.jsn backups any more, sorry! But you should be able to import your favorites individually. Please test: - Edit configuration -> Download backup - Edit configuration -> Upload backup (only use freshly created all.jsn files!) - Overall stability - Pitch CV and pots, inverse response issue should be fixed now Thanks much for your efforts and hope this one is doing a lot better!

Nice one, I'll have a play later... Shame about the inability to upload the older .all files, though hopefully the fixes make individual importing more reliable than id found previously. Appreciate the work - many thanks! My biggest worry with these was that once the bug had been found, given the timescale from release, that support would no longer be possible. I'm really thankful you guys are on it!

Cool - I'll start testing asap, but will try to export Favourites of Subbotnik before and see if they can be imported later. Andy: Hopefully this will work for your two Subbotnik-Presets then too.

I should have waited... So far unable to get presets back in via import.

So importing individual files causes a hang in the tapp - dark screen, loading... nothing happens.
Initially I wondered if it was to do with replacing those tapp files before exporting individual presets- it isn't as I tried some old ones.
I'll see how making new patches goes, though probably won't be spending too long on it: the perpetual patch making/breaking is something I'm hoping to move away from! (Almost there it seems!)

The good news is importing older patches aside, everything seems to be running nice and stable - nothing to report so far, no hangs, glitches, reboots etc... Looking good!
As an aside I'm keeping one of them on the older firmware so I can run it on inverted CV's... More milage from less is the theory!
Feature creep warning: would it be possible/easy to implent +/- CV inputs in the menu, for example cv0+, cv0- etc?

Current testresult are:
- Edit configuration -> Download backup >> Works as expected now, Subbotnik-patches are included
- Edit configuration -> Upload backup (only use freshly created all.jsn files!) >> Works as expected now, Subbotnik-patches could be reloaded (changed one and created another one to make sure before reload)I noticed one tiny thing here: if you want to edit a preset with the previously active plugin, that won't work. One has to select a new (or the same) plugin after Backup-upload.But I really would not call this a bug or anything like that, it's common behaviour with browser-based apps, that you have to refresh your screen after such major things. - Overall stability >> Very good so far. Great that now many "keep the user happy"-infos are displayed during export, import and so on - highly appreciated! - Pitch CV and pots, inverse response issue should be fixed now >> Tested with TBD03 (CV-in-1), now working as expected I also tested to export a favourite containing a Subbotnik patch before updating the firmware, that worked fine and contained the preset. But: Loading the favourite with the new firmware seems to work, but when I go to the preset contained (Subbotnik in that case) it won't work (temporary screen-freeze) After switching to a different project the faulty favourite is discarded and everything is fine again - so this also is an improvement in stability - great! So I am afraid, presets from Subbotnik (and alike) can be exported with the old firmware, but currently only could be read from the resulting JSON-file and then put in via the Webinterface by hand one after the other again?
I could not retest the "plugin-name-too-long" in context with favourites, because I don't use an Android-Tablet or similar.
But anyways, in combination with the previous major update to the TBD-Firmware this really looks (and sounds ;-) very promissing indeed!

Not sure, what Robert M. may think about your suggestion, but this CV-tool-module should give you the identical option and even more flexibility in terms of tweaking: www.tangiblewaves.com/store/p93/2CVTOOL.html

I have fixed the favorite im/export. Please check the www stuff attached, place in tapp as before. Just updated and tested importing "old" favourites again - now this is working as expected - great stuff! tIB Restoring your Subbotnik-patches from your favourites should work with the newest firmware now, too.
Edit: also tested exporting and importing favourites with the current firmware now, this also works fine :-)

Possible/likely bad news here - my romplayer seems to have lost its saved state... I'll confirm after more play...

Ok, weird one and so far inconclusive - when I loaded the rompler (if it's called that) it was triggering but knobs and CV in weren't working. The saved preset was still in the bank though, unlike before, so I'm headscratching on what's happened there... maybe user error, though I thought I'd saved as I did all the others. Everything else has been stable so far - perhaps we'll find out tomorrow...

Everything else has been stable so far - perhaps we'll find out tomorrow... Ok, so far I was not able to replicate the issue, but so that we have common ground, I'd like to make sure I understood you correctly:
"when I loaded the rompler (if it's called that) it was triggering but knobs and CV in weren't working." >> Ok, where/how did you load that plugin? a) Via the Web-GUI b) As a favourite directly on the Hardware TBD "The saved preset was still in the bank though, unlike before,"
>> Where was that patch exactly? a) As a preset (default or selected) of a plugin, loaded via the Web-GUI b) As a favourite loaded on the Hardware TBD (pressing that single button to toogle favourites and then pressed it long for select) c) Yet different
I'd guess, it would have been variant (b) in both cases, correct? "so I'm headscratching on what's happened there..."
>> In case you used the favourites only on the TBD-hardware, how exactly have you put them on there in the first place? I do it like this:
1. Edit the sound (via edit channel 0, typically) on the Webinterface, including setting up the CVs and Triggers/Gates to be connected 1b. Leave the edit page via "< Edit" 1c. Save that setting as a preset via "Save Preset"
2. Select a favourite via the Webinterface where it should be used on the TBD-Hardware later on 3. Press 'Snap' on the GUI 3b. Set a favourite-name and a user string, that will be displayed on TBD's screen later on 3c. Press "store", here! 4. Press "Recall", which will send all the favourites ( not only the one assigned most recently) to the TBD-hardware to synchronize the systems "maybe user error, though I thought I'd saved as I did all the others." >> Well, if one forgets step 1c and/or 3c or already "snapped" a not completed preset to favourites, the outcome might not be as expected
If you leave out step 1c, the previously selected preset will be used, not the sound as from the "edit-buffer" If you leave out step 3c, the previously selected favourite will be used (which may be void), the previously via 'snap' selected preset will not be used
As I understand it: sounds to be transferred to the hardware are taken from the non-volatile memory and not from the current edit-buffer. In other words, due to the tiny microprocessor-hardware in combination with realtime-audio, things sometimes tend to be a bit more complicated than on a full-blown PC
But anyhow: if/when the error happens again, a step-by-step description, so that we can replicate it, would be really helpful... And/or: if you again could send me your 'all.jsn'-file along with the faulty favourite (exported as a separate JSON-file) I can compare the two and see if the CV/Trigger mappings are different in the preset used from both

Will do - it was the last patch I put together after updating so I'm hoping I missed one of the steps by accident, though I can't work out which it could have been given I have a saved preset and also had stored the patch and parameters names, which is the final step when you snap as you know.
I save as you describe btw.
To answer the questions I loaded via the TBD itself (after editting/saving via the tapp earlier). When the settings weren't there I attached the android app to see if the preset was still saved on the plugin - it was there so I loaded a snapped the settings back onto the device.
Previously when saves reverted, presets were lost too, so that's different.
I'm just hoping I somehow snapped the patch and editted the plugin/saved that preset after snapping to the device. No idea why I would though - I don't usually - but maybe...
I'll update tomorrow when I've had more if a play...

Hi tIB - in that case to have the "presets.zip" and the favourite that did not work as expected for comparison would be best. To export the favourite, please make sure it's selected (active) in the WebGUI and press "Export" there, it will be stored as "fav-export.jsn" in your download-folder, next to the "presets.zip". Then I can have a look if there is a difference in the preset contained in the "fav-export" to the one (with the same name) in the 'all.jsn' or the presets saved individually for the specified plugin. At least I would suspect the potential error inside the notation of the preset of the favourite, because loading those favourites currently seems to work without issues, tried it several times today myself, anyway.

No issues this morning... a welcome change to wrestling with my quantiser instead!
I did have a crash on the old one at one point, but importantly nothing seems to have been lost.
More later...

When you say "the old one", so this TBD did not have the newest or the second-newest firmware active (where the exports and so on have been optimized), right?
When you say Quantizer: are you experiencing V/Oct CV tracking issues, or are you using the Quantizer for other reasons?

Sorry, not clear - I've one tbd with the latest firmware and one with the last test one, with inverted CV's. Quantiser wise whatevers going on is definitely in that module rather than the TBDs - not sure what the issue is but I built a fairly complex web of CV's last night that I wanted to be able to switch between for variation. Something's not happy somewhere (I'm guessing the quant, though it might be before it) so I'll tear the patch down and do some basic testing with it at some point. Nothing to worry about for this thread though!
