Definitely, got lost on this as well (cf. Monster patch 🤣). It's usually fine until modulation are introduced into the account. Could be a goal for a specific of patch to use all in and out as much as possible. But for musicality it most of the time doesn't help.

I also think the fear to unpatch contributes to these gargantuan rats nest patches. "If I just add a few more cables the whole patch will sound fantastic..."
