Hey folks! Hoping all's well. So - my second 2x16 case is pretty much full, and of course; I'm not done yet! ;-)
I'm starting to plan for a third 2x16 case down the line (being careful to not push the PSU too far), but now have an annoying issue of the physical practicality of three cases on a tabletop. I think if I attach another to the back of my second, upright case, it'd then be too top heavy, so the best option is possibly to keep the middle flat on the surface, and have one case suspended each side?
Basically I'd love to hear/see how your behemoth systems are supported, any thoughts would be much appreciated!

I have 3x2x16 and 3 rows of 12. I have an A-frame stand for keyboards and stuff, and I put a wire shelf on each level to hold stuff narrower than the a-frame supports, so I have 2 wide surfaces to hold stuff. On the bottom I have 2x2x16 with the rear 2x16 sitting in a 3M laptop stand to keep it at a usable angle and the 3 rows of 12 sitting next to it being mostly a mixer/fx rack. The 3rd 2x16 is on the top tier of the keyboard stand connected by a long ribbon cable. Since the shelves are wire, I can patch across the top of the top rack and down to the bottom stuff-- I have sequencer and trigger stuff in the middle and VCOs and sound sources in the top. It ends up like this: It keeps stuff pretty accessible and since I can run through the wire shelves it keeps long patchwire runs out of the way. The laptop stand is a 3m LX550 ( www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006HVM4A/ ) which is the perfect size to hold up an AE rack at whatever angle you think works. You would need a longer bus cable to connect them though. The 3x2x16 racks are all powered from the same MASTER and the mixer rack is run by a POWER module and is not on the same bus.

I have 2 2x20 cases that are nearing capacity. I am considering building some kind of rack for 3 2x20 cases where one case will be on the table sligthly raised at the back and the two others wil be above at som yet to be determined angle.

My main rack lies flat on the table, and the 2nd rack is propped up behind it on a piece of wood! When this 2nd case is changed from an original 2x16 row to a new 2x20 row I will be able to use the TW hinge kits to joign them but the piece of wood might stay anyway...

Check out that laptop stand I linked to! It's perfect for holding a case at a useful angle.

You would need a longer bus cable to connect them though. would be great if there was an assortment of various ribbon cable lengths in the shop...just for convenience.

In a similar boat having just received a third rack and 4th very soon. At the moment thinking I'll have both 2*2x16 sit side by side, the left having the Master and the right having a power module both powered by the same supply and each top section attached by bus to the bottom. this would make the whole system still cross patchable. Both bottom racks will be raised using Flavorwavesynth cool racks. Really like your wire rack system solipsistnation great idea and is making me re think my set up! also in this thread below there is a link to how you can make a longer bus cable and also rodney has a cool idea in his link to hold the top rack to the bottom if too top heavy, given he uses it to busk but might help if you do want three racks sitting on top of one another. forum.aemodular.com/thread/1551/case-hinge-trouble

I have a 3*2*16 that are full. The first case was an old one without the connexion between two case so I had to add the RACKLICK taht use 2*1U on 2 case, not that optimal but it work. I'm thinking about getting a 4*16 case to and get rid of the old case, that was i'll have just an addition of 2 more rows and it should be enough for quiet some times, I hope. There a still some modules i'd like to add to my setup, especially third party modules, now that they are more and more . At first i was thinking of building my own case in wood, and still consider the option.

People are building up some serious AE systems. It's a joy to watch thes photos

Amazing - thanks so much for all the advice folks!
I'm looking into my options, trying to figure out what's the best idea. Amazing to see so many huge systems, can't believe how much the AE ecosystem has grown!
