Hello,
I had an idea : I think it would be very fun to be able to have an ultra portable setup. Personnaly, I really like the new trend of portable synths (Bastle Kastle, Volcas, Pocker Operators...).
So I was thinking that it would be very cool to have something similar that could work with the AE modules. So here are what could be the concept in big lines :
- Works on rechargeable battery (or batteries)
- The case can contains 4 units
- Multiple units could be used together
And that's it, people will be creative enough to make setups that could fit this.
For the battery, we have multiple possibilities :
- A dedicated module, with also 2 AUD/CV inputs - outputs (so you can make multiple case to work together)
- Or it could be integrated with this particular case
The good thing is that AE doesn't require a lot of power, so it would be a good way opportunity right ?
What do you think ?

jubinThe AE is great for portability. A lot of people already use it with Volcas which fit your criteria, with or without the VM Bridge module! wiki.aemodular.com/pmwiki.php/AeManual/VMBRIDGEThere have been a couple of threads about cases, but not quite the way you are meaning, although there was one recently that may suit... forum.aemodular.com/thread/10/using-folktek-mescaline-bastle-kastle?page=1&scrollTo=12054These may give ideas.... forum.aemodular.com/thread/1737/carry-caseforum.aemodular.com/thread/1756/wooden-studio-stands-travel-modular?page=1&scrollTo=14811I use my AE (on its own) sometimes off a USB Battery pack, again some have been discussed on the forum but my understanding is any reasonably good one will do.... I think your post means a case with the gear in, which may include the AE, some users have done variations of this but you would have to look at posts/music videos etc, I don't see the need for the dedicated module for what you are describing, unless you mean the battery is the module? I feel a separate battery outside for cooling, maximum MAH etc. fed in via the power or master modules (for the AE) would be better. Some sort of power distribution within the case would be nice, again Volcas lend themselves to this as have suitable leads readily available.

Myvolts sells all kinds of usb power cords, including 9v center positive. The correct cable from them along with a 20,000 unit usb battery brick (from amazon) should power an AE case and couple other things (eg bluebox) nicely. If u buy from myvolts, sign up for their coupon first. Their cables are good and they have them for *everything* but they are kind of pricey.

In fact, I already have my rack powered by a rechargeable battery. And yes I use this same battery to power also my volca keys. Thanks for your tips anyway
But, I was talking more about a module that could be this battery, dedicated for AE modular format.
On top of that, the idea would be to have smaller cases. So you end up with tiny setups, completely portable, without the need to carry an external battery.
The goal of this is that, in my approach, I don't look to have a full big installation of AE modules / synths. I like to think about the whole setup in a "portable modular" way. Very often, I grab some part of the setup, and bring it to my garden or in the forest to play with it. I believe this is an approach that more and more people are having today.

That's a great idea. I also power my rack with a powerbank, but if I could have that built into the rack with no need for cables I'd be very happy !

Currently I'm working on some even-more compact modules so we get a complete AE system (with sequencer and drums) in a 8 units case; this might be contributing well to this idea! Some kind of integrated battery - hmm, I'll consider this!

and to have a rack the size of a volca would be pretty cool too. challenging as well.

I like portable and battery powered devices too, and being able to make a rig for outside. I am not against your idea though for me I think it is pretty doable now as is. And I wanted to let people that want the portability now know how to do it.
