I began my AE with the 1 row starter system, as I wasn't even sure I would get into modular - thought I would but wasn't sure...
One of the first things that grabbed me was the Lofi delay - hardly ever used simple delays in my music before, and I love its sound, especially on bass. This may be because I generally used digital FX units and this was such a contrast but the key here is, it's musical. I love just setting it by ear twiddling the knob rather than selecting a preset, dive into a menu, select parameter etc. etc. I use it a lot! It's had a bigger impact on my music outside the AE but is still one of my favourite modules just to patch in and have a fiddle. One day I am going to order a 2nd one; so I could do stereo, or different delays on different sounds within the AE now my system is nearly filling 4 rows....
It's obviously important or it wouldn't be in both starter sets, and the "new" Synth explorer!

Hadn't thought of getting a second one, great idea. I love the little crackle it makes. Also adds to the distortion when routing the kick through drumkit through delay.

I have 2. One from my original system, and one from the second hand system i bought.
With two you can set up "cross feedback" output from one going to the input of the other and vice versa. I usually put at least one of the "out to in" trough the 2ATT/CV module to be able to quickly turn down undesired feedback screaming.

I've recently been sequencing the CV in on the delay with the SEQ16, now that gets some crazy results!

I like to put rhythmic delays on everything! Hihats, basslines, lead bits, everything gets a delay!

I often run the lowfi DELAY, TRIP and PingPong on the MULTIFX all in the same patch. AE has tons of delay options.

Also one of my favorites. I've used a lot of delays and the tiny AE delay adds a load of character. I'd really like an analogue mono reverb with just as much character.
