As mentioned elsewhere the Wiki is now essentially complete, although updating will always be required and more patch suggestions are always welcome. During my editing work I realised how much the 4 I/O module came up. Yes there are 2 I/O channels on the Master and Power modules, but they can be soon taken up with CVs/Triggers etc, and if you want a stereo out from the AE you have nothing but midi available to provide CVs etc. into the AE. A small but major benefit for me is that the 4 I/O can be sited away from the main patching area, so I have it permanently connected to my 19" patchbay normalised to 2 inputs on the mixer. Its cabling doesn't get in the way and is easy just to connect up to the MultiFX module next to it which is (usually) how my AE ends up in stereo. I still have 4 possible connections (2 on the 4 I/O and 2 on my Master module) for external gear still, The 4 I/O just gives complete piece of mind regarding connecting external gear, which is great for a non-techie like me. Been great fun just trying stuff and, yes, that includes hooking up Volcas without the help of the VM Bridge module! An essential purchase unless you are using your AE system alone....

When I started my AE journey I didn't thought I would need the 4 I/O as I had the 4 ATTMIX. Now that I do understand it much better, this 4 I/O is a must have. All the 4 connection goes to my external mixer, that way I can use it as stereo, as you stated with the MULTIFX, or in mono for minor patches. With the Master modules I have 6 out with the AEm. And I do not use it as inputs (yet). I plan on adding another 4 I/O as I find it very conveniant to have that much outs. Great module.

Since I have a multitrack recorder (1010music Bluebox) using 3.5mm inputs, I fell in love with the 4I/0. It's so easy to connect up 4 channels for recording with just two stereo aux cables. And I can just choose some as stereo (eg from Cirrus or MultiFX outputs) and then a mono synth & drum track. Bluebox has EQ'ing, compressor and extra FX, so now I can mix very clean and interactively outside the AE. The combo really has boosted my ability to finish & clean up tracks made on AE.
Makes me think I need another 4I/0 module so I can multitrack 8 tracks and for example split the Kick out of the drum parts, have an extra track with just some ambient noise,...
I originally bought the 4I/0 because my jam-friend got a Crave which has quite a lot of CV outs/ins. But I barely use it therefore as I have plenty of modulation inside AE. Really underestimated module!

I do like how you can choose between audio or cv giving more flexibility.
Not sure how I'm going to best use it when it arrives but great to have those options.
And combine the 4i/o with the Mixconsole and master you can record out potentially 10 or 11 seperate voices/mono tracks with 2 extra FX returns on the Mixconsole.
