Heyo! Took my AE Modular 1-row and PO-33 with me on holiday (and also a recorder). For this track I sampled some AE oneshots and sequences straight into my PO-33. PO-33 can play the samples & also pitch shift them, so I could basically play the recorded single notes as a 'synth'. The sequencer of the PO-33 is suprisingly powerful and really fun to use, so I could go for a more song-like structure than usual. Pretty proud of the result! Did use some Ableton magic for compression/little reverb/EQ/saturation now I'm home (to beef up the sound and give it some stereo width). But basically all sounds are AE & PO! soundcloud.com/zzzvm/in-savona-they-only-play-tech-house-po-33-reprise

I am now wondering, does it sound super tight to my ears because you told us that you sequenced the AE samples on the po33 or is this digital sequencer indeed more tight than let's say a SEQ8 triggered by an LFO. I can see how it would be nearly impossible to make this track in one elaborate AE patch, unless you have a tower of racks and a whole bunch of logic and matrix switches. #foodforthought

#foodforthought Funny that you mention it. The first synth sequence you hear, the first five seconds, is actually one long sample recording of the AE. The pattern was provided by 'rolling the dice' with RBSS through Quantizer. After recording it, I had to find the tempo in the PO-33 that would fit the sample into one bar. The rest of the song was then built around that bassy sequence. The other synth sound are 'true' oneshots, recordings of just one note on the AE with me activating the envelope manually. However, I do think that AE can 'vary' in how tight it is, depending on how you patch. I can imagine that not every LFO is as precise as a digital clock based on a quartz crystal.. Or maybe its the triggers who can differ some milliseconds etc etc. On the other hand, as these oneshot samples on the PO-33 are not trimmed very precisely, its just as plausible that there is for example 10ms of silence in front of the sampled synth oneshot. I do have the same feeling as you, that this feels way more tight while AE only feels 'lose' in a way. But that might as well be a song-structure, drumsequence thing?
