Hello, everyone! First and foremost, I apologise if my query has already been discussed but I couldn't find anything around.
As I am still a rookie in modular synthesis, I am using my AE Modular system with a Keystep 37 and it has been awesome so far. I am creating basslines, through my Oscillator module of course, but using the Keystep's sequencer to create and play them and then I just play around with all my modules' knobs.
My question is, I've seen on YouTube, users with Eurorack systems, that you can control more than one channel/voice with the Keystep. What I would like to do is have my bassline sequenced with the Keystep 37 while also adding strings with my Solina module playing with the keys of the Keystep 37.
Is this possible with AE?
Thanks so much in advance.

The midi interface on the AEmodular only supports 1 channel or omni i.e. it reacts to every midi channel it receives, you can not route the signals of different midi channels to different targets, since the AE modular midi interface can not make the distinction between the different channels (when in omni mode).

One solution is to get something like the CV.OCD from sixtyfour pixels and use it to split your midi channels to different cv outputs. Then you might need a 4I/O module to have enough cv inputs

It is indeed not possible right now, but IIRC Robert teased a dedicated MIDI module not so long ago, or at least he mentioned that it is in the works. I would be very hyped for this module too, as it would allow me to use my beloved Digitakt sequencer for AE drums.

The Keystep also has CV and Gate outputs. I dimly remember how someone on YouTube demonstrated how you can run a sequence via MIDI and then play a melody only via CV .. but I can't find it ... will try this later!

Ok I found it in the manual: You can play the sequence via CV/Gate and at the same time play a melody via MIDI! So you would attach the CV/Gate outputs from the Keystep to the CV inputs on the Master module and then route pitch directly from the Master module to your oscillator and the gate to an envelope.

Thank you so much for your replies, everyone! I kind of sensed that there was a way to do this so I'm gonna start experimenting. Hopefully I can make it work.

This may not be quite what you are after, but the sequence/bassline can always be run "inside" the AE, getting the clock from Midi if necessary to whichever sequencer module, then you can doodle away with the Keystep to your heart's content then.... I do this a lot.....
