Alright, so as documented elsewhere on the forum, a while back i installed my SR2 in a briefcase for neatness / dust protection Since this pic was taken i'm down to just 1U free so probably* looking to expand in the near future. However, i don't 100% understand the options for connecting racks. It seems like the hinge kit is really intended for mounting two racks in a very fixed configuration - one directly 'above' the other. In my case a second rack will probably have to be used outside the case, or at least sitting inside the lid several cm away, so i'm not sure the cable will reach. Maybe RACKLINK would be a better solution, but that obviously takes up a slot in each rack. Anybody have experience with connecting cases 'at a distance'? I'm assuming the connection cable is pretty generic, can I just get a longer one somewhere and connect them like that, from the top of this rack into the bottom of the new one? * definitely

You can connect 2 different rack boxes just using a standard 10 pin IDC cable between the IDC male connectors on the side of the rack boxes. I've gone up to 1.5 metre lengths no problems. But if you want to interconnect to another rack via the module pinouts you'll need extra long Dupont cables (from the Tangible Waves store).

The RACKLINK seems to be the better option. Or as stated above you can use a cable to connect two of your cases together. But it may be tricky as how the case in placed in the box.

I can vote for the racklink working really well, the bi-directional spare sockets/wires are really useful for patching and has been flawless in operation.
