keurslagerkurt was asking about PCB stuff in a thread somewhere ( ) so I have created a super-simple template for any interested users of easyeda.com.
It simply has the pin headers and a couple of potentiometers placed to start with since these are really the only 'standard' parts.
Link to Open Source Hardware Lab project
If stuff isn't clear I'll be happy to add commentary to the template.

Thanks!! 😁
One of the things 'scaring' me about pcb design is def the need for very accurate physical properties and footprints, so this is really great 😊

The most difficult part in my experience was lining up the holes for the potentiometers — most things are on a 0.1” grid, except for the offset of the shaft — 7mm!!
This is why it’s important to look at the engineering diagrams of the parts you choose 🤣

Used the template for a first prototype that has been ordered now It saved me a lot of time, and I'm sure I would have made errors with the dimensions of the board somewhere otherwise. So thanks!

Now I feel responsible!! I hope that things line up Now you will need to get some 15mm and 8mm PCB spacers (and some M3 bolts for the panels). These are easy to find on ebay for example (I'm assuming you already saw thetechnobear's technical guide?)

Thanks for the heads-up! I have the short spacers but i'll need to source the other ones

I wish I could use this website but it seems buggy as hell every time I try to log in I get forwarded to the home page. Whenever I try to edit something I'm asked to log in. Running latest firefox 110.0.2 on macos Monterey 12.4.

You did help me I switched to chrome and we're cooking. Great! I was going to post the same thing — the site definitely doesn’t work in safari, so I use chrome just for easyeda…!

I'm more than happy to supply my templates in KiCAD too if anyone is interested.

namke maybe worth including in the base post? Or maybe a broader topic should be made?

I think this could be a topic all of its own!

Thank you. This will help, I've started planning out things I want to build even though my system hasn't arrived yet... it's an excuse to learn KiCAD anyway.

Does anyone have the correct serial numbers for potmeters and switches in easyeda, when I render the 3d view of my pcb I get the wrong type of switched and powerheader?

I personally don't use the 3D view so I'm not using the correct serial numbers either.. The pots I use are these ones, which are tbh of great quality imo, and i haven't had a single one fail. I have not found switches that i'm super happy about yet, but I know namke has some good ones now. I don't know which ones Robert is using now, but its always worth sending him an email about this as he's always happy to help me out with this kind of stuff!

Does this one also sell the header pins and switches or do you get those somewhere else?

namke I noticed the schematic containing 2 holes what's up with that? Why are those defined in the schematic file?

namke I noticed the schematic containing 2 holes what's up with that? Why are those defined in the schematic file? No real reason, apart from that way, if you create a new PCB, the holes are already added to it Of course it is possible to add holes just to the PCB!

And I guess they don't need to be put on the BOM

This link is dead for me. I guess you removed the repository on purpose, but I'll try my luck anyways :-) Are there templates for micro-modules as well? I'm planning to use KiCAD, but I can also try converting from other formats.

They were simply out of date after quickswap was released, so I removed them. If people would find it helpful, I could try my hand at a new set of them. I hadn't even created a uModule template. 😅
