So got couple of those on the way and was wondering if someone already tried to connect them directly into AE? If I'm not mistaken the connection are data, 5v and ground so it should be compatible somehow... Just checking before trying anything stupid  or if I'd rather do an interface of some sort... |

Awesome. i was also thinking to get some sensors, maybe some cheap ones from eBay for Arduino etc. My guess you should be safe  |

I think that soem of the things that can be connected to the Koma stuff is solenoids and DC motors.
One thing to be aware of is that solenoids and DC motors and other inductive loads can draw a lot of current. This is especially true just when they are started up, a huge current spike can appear. They should have suitable back EMF protection, to protect other circuits they are connected to.

My guess the question was related to the sensors, not solenoids. regarding to the solenoids and motors - you're 100% correct. Altho, if you hook up one or two low power solenoids in one or two row rack system - should be ok, at least I tried some time ago, haven't noticed any power drop. (using ac/dc 1.3A adapter) |

Definitely speaking only about the sensors. Wouldn't try the motor directly to the AE. On my coming Ae system (just got a DHL notification  ), I added the USB module which has 4 connection for 5v and ground which is perfect to connect the sensor. After reading their manual it seems that all only deliver 5v maximum for CVs so should be OK... |

The LittleBits synth kit sounds great when you add a servo or a motor or a fan, to the signal path.
than, there's the Motor Synth, made with the kind of motors and controllers to get precise speeds for multi-rotor drones, mixed with optical tone-wheel ideas from the dawn of time.
a single-motor module should be on Robert's sunrise list, in my humble opinion.

I saw this motor synth. Definitely nice looking and sound interesting but a bit too expensive for my needs. I Already received the sensors (and the Bastl Synapsis from an other theard). I'm always amazed how fast Bastl and UPS are. From order to door delivery it took less than 24h from Czech Republic to Finland... Anyway, my Ae system is still in transit so won't receive it before leaving for vacation tomorrow morning... OK, just 1.5 week of wait left  . With 4 sensor onto the USB module should be fun to play with the Solina (and other) CV inputs. |

Would you mind to elaborate on that one? Do you mean just to get motor hooked in the circuit as "instead of resistor" or something like that? I was thinking of making one, but in order to get some signal out of it - to place a guitar pickup next to it. But if it's actually doable just by simply putting it in the chain - oh that makes it so different and easy. Or maybe even to combine it, to have a pick-up, a direct line, and also an optical spinny-thingy disc on top of that for some modulation. and the motor is actually so cheap, it's a kind of no brainer just to make one. |
